Excalidraw
Draw informal diagrams and sketches to explain ideas and flows.
THE SELECTION NOTE
Why it’s here
Excalidraw fills the gap between a conversation and a polished design. Rough boxes and arrows can make a disagreement visible quickly. It is a useful starting point when the relationships matter more than typography or spacing.
Who it fits
Explaining a system or brainstorming without polishing every pixel.
A task to try: Explain a process in six shapes
- Draw the starting point, key steps, and outcome.
- Label the arrows so the relationships are explicit.
- Ask someone else to describe the flow back to you and revise the confusing part.
Where to be careful
A sketch leaves detail unresolved by design. Move to an interface or implementation tool when precise behavior and visual specifications become necessary.
